Year 6

Computing and Science

Welcome back!

In computing this week we have revised our spreadsheet skills by using the SUM function for a specific purpose (calculating a League Table) and ordering data using the Sort function. We were able to produce a graph to present the data based on the calculations. In new learning we created totals and averages for existing data; sorting according to either column then adding or editing the data by following instructions. We have begun to understand the benefit of automatic recalculation when editing and will be applying these skills next week to problem-solving.

In science, through observation and questioning, we identified how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways. We explored the three main categories of adaptation: body parts, body coverings and behaviours. We chose to focus on animals found in the tundra as well as cactuses.
