Pre School

Physical Development

This week we have been working on our gross motor skills.

These are skills that involve movements of the large muscles in the arms, legs, and core.  Children rely on gross motor skills for activities at school and at home so ensuring good skills early on in a child's educational career is important, not just for taking part in lessons such as PE, but a good core strength will help a child sit comfortably at a desk when doing written work.

In Pre School we enjoy many activities that help our gross motor development.  Everything from action songs such as Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes to obstacle courses requiring the children to bend, stretch, jump and take large steps.
