Year 5

Tudor portraits

This week in Year 5, we explored using water colours! We have been busy this half-term learning about portraits and focusing on the features of a portrait and how to create a face in proportion. We explored a range of Tudor portraits and used the skills we have learnt to sketch our own portrait of a Tudor.  We used water colours to explore techniques such as using different parts of the paint brush and using a varied amount of water to achieve a range of saturated colour. We learnt the more water we used the colour would be rather faint, however the more paint we used the colour would be darker. We enjoyed mixing colours to achieve a close match to what we saw on the portraits we were inspired by.
