Safer Internet Day 2024
This week we have celebrated Safer Internet Day in school.  It is important that we are all working together to keep our children safe online.  The link below contains tips, advice, guides and resources to help you, as a parent or carer support your child - you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online.

You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online. The advice and resources are here to support you as you support your child to use the internet safely, responsibility and positively.

World Book Day

World Book Day is fast approaching and, at King’s Oak, we have lots of fun things planned to celebrate the day and our love of books and reading!  Firstly, we would love all the children to come to school dressed in their pyjamas (please make sure that your child will be warm enough - Oodies, jogging bottoms, any comfy clothing will do!) ready for their bedtime story and if possible, bring along a teddy. (It might be an idea not to bring their favourite teddy, just in case!) During the day, all the children from Reception to Year 6 will be reading the same book - Our Tower by Joseph Coelho. They will then be completing a range of interesting and fun activities linked to the book in their phase groups. This work will be presented in an assembly at the end of the day and then will go on display in the school for everyone to see. Finally, the children will have a fun but puzzling time trying to match the adult in school to their baby photo and their favourite book as a child! All the staff are already excited about World Book Day and can’t wait to share their love of books with the children.

NHS MMR information

I am sure that you are aware, there is a current spike in measles in the UK, with a number of cases confirmed in London. Please use the number in the flyer below or the following link to make sure that your child is fully protected.

Governing Board Updates
At our FGB meeting last night, we had a presentation from Ms Hawthorne about all the great work being done to support families with positive school attendance. We also approved a final version of the school Vision and Ethos statement.  This has been developed with the staff and children to reflect the ambitions for the school - please take some time to read them.

We also learnt from the school Marketing Team about a new sign that is going to be installed soon on the fence nearest to the main car park entrance.  This will be visible from the Kingston Road and let our community know that we are here and what we can offer.

Thank you for your continued support, I hope that you and your families are able to have a resftul and positive half-term break.  I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 19th February for the start of the second half of the Spring Term.

King's Oak Primary School
Next week we will be taking part in Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week. Our focus, selected by the children, is going to be all about the importance of healthy sleep habits! Hopefully this will support adult mental health too!
