Year 6

Huge thanks and congratulations to Year 6 for their effort and engagement with the SATs testing that they had to endure this week.  They were very focused and all worked incredibly well to try their best with all the exam papers. We are very proud of them! Parents in Year 6 have had a separate email about this but the Year 6 leavers hoodies are now available to order - please do so using this link.

Sports Days

Based on the feedback of the sports day format from last year, we are trying a different approach for this year.  Each year group will have their own sports session made up of sprint races and then a carousel of sports activities.  Parents are invited to attend and can stay for just the races or the whole schedule.  The dates which are now published on the school calendar are as follows:

Nursery am - 10:30 Monday 8th July

Nursery pm - 14:15 Monday 8th July

Reception - 9:00 Wednesday 10th July

Year 1– 9:00 Tuesday 9th July

Year 2 - 9:00 Thursday 4th July

Year 3 - 9:00 Monday 1st July

Year 4 – 9:00 Thursday 11th July

Year 5 - 9:00 Wednesday 3rd July

Year 6 - 9:00 Friday 5th July

Walk to School Week

Next week is Walk to School Week.  This national initiative is designed to encourage more of us to walk to school for environmental and health benefits.  I know that many of you already come to school sustainably and some have to travel a long distance to get to school making walking not an option.  However, for this week, to improve physical and mental wellbeing, please consider using the park-and-stride option to make sure that everyone can join in.  There are lots of places where you can park a short distance from school and then walk the final ten minutes to see how this improves your day.  Please give it a try!

PSA Meeting Date

Apologies for having to postpone the PSA meeting which was planned for this morning.  We now have a new date for your diaries - the next PSA meeting will now take place on Friday 14th June at 9:00.  We hope that many of you will be able to make it.

Children's Centre half-term schedule

The programme for the May half-term at Kingston Children's Centres has now been published.  Please use this link to find out what activities and events you are able to engage with during the holiday.

Open Water Dangers

As the hotter days approach, please communicate to your children the dangers of swimming in local rivers and other bodies of open water. Sadly we have seen
children and adults lose their life in recent years in local rivers, some of which have been strong swimmers. There are a number of dangers to consider, below is just a few:

  • The shock of cold water can make swimming difficult and increase the
  • difficulty in getting out of the water
  • Lack of safety equipment and increased difficulty for rescue
  • The height of the fall or jump if tombstoning
  • The depth of the water – this changes and is unpredictable
  • Underwater objects and hazards may not be visible
  • Obstacles or other people in the water
  • Strong currents can rapidly sweep people away
  • Uneven banks and river beds
  • Water quality, e.g. toxic algal blooms and industrial/agricultural pollution

The best advice is to stick to swimming areas with trained lifesaving staff present
such as local authority swimming pools. For more information please have a look at the Royal Life Saving Society website:

Reception Treasure Hunt

Tomorrow we are looking forward to meeting many of our new Reception 2024/25 cohort for our Open Morning and Treasure Hunt.  The treats and prizes are ready and hopefully the rain will hold off.  If you are already part of the school and are joining Reception in September, we hope that you are able to attend - doors open at 10:00.

Have a wonderful weekend.
