It looks like the weather might have finally taken a turn for the better! While this is fantastic for the summer vibes, please can we be especially vigilant that everyone stays safe as the temperature rises.  It is even more important than normal that your child has a water bottle in school every day, that if necessary they have a sun hat and have a high factor and long lasting sun-cream applied before school each day.  Thank you for your support in keeping everyone healthy and hydrated this summer.  As more children are taking off jumpers in the playground please can you ensure that they are named so we can return them if they get misplaced. Thank you.

Year 2 and Year 4 Swimming Gala

I had the pleasure this week of accompanying two teams of swimmers to take part in a cluster swimming gala.  The children swam in a range of races against seven local schools and did an amazing job.  As well as races in all the traditional strokes, they took part in bicycle, egg-flip, relay and noodle races.  They were fantastic ambassadors for King's Oak and enjoyed cheering on their team-mates and swimmers from the other schools.  Well done to everyone who took part.

Singing Festival

This week, Year 2 had the honour of performing on stage at The Rose Theatre as part of the Kingston Music Service singing festival.  They performed as a year group and also sang a range of songs with other schools from across the borough.  They sang beautifully and the concert was a huge success.  Well done to all of our performers and thank you to the parents who were able to watch, we hope that you enjoyed it too.

Athletics Festival

10 children from Reception and Year 1 represented King's Oak at a Kingston Mini Athletics Festival on Thursday. They competed alongside other local primary schools in a range of activities such as: relay races, javelin and shot put. The children really enjoyed their experience and were so supportive and encouraging of their teammates. They made the school and themselves very proud!

PSA FUNdraiser

Thank you to everyone for your phenomenal response to our bottle tombola donations today - we did brilliantly, the stall is going to be very well stocked.  The FUNdraiser event is taking place after school next Friday - please make sure you have this date in your diary.  As well as the bottle tombola there will be bouncy castles, a tuck-shop, adopt a teddy stall, sponge the teacher, games and much more to enjoy.  The fair will be mainly cashless so please make sure that you have got your tokens to spend at the fair - these will be available to purchase on the day and in the playground after school from Tuesday next week.  Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help out at the event, hopefully it will be a big success - please come along and support us!

Book Fair

Next week we are hosting a book fair in school.  As well as giving you the opportunity to purchase some great books, the school will also benefit from some free books based on how successful the fair is.  The fair will be taking place before and after school from Tuesday to Friday next week either in the New Hall or under the canopy outside the hall depending on the weather.  Please note that the fair is cashless - all payments need to be made online using the QR code or website above - thank you.

Thank you for your continued support, have a great weekend.

Attendance Matters!

At the start of the week, we saw some very low attendance percentages - luckily things picked up towards the end of the week - yesterday we were even above the national average! Sadly this has not made an impact on the overall percentages this week - hopefully we can see some higher percentages next week!

1st - 2AC - 95.8%

2nd - 3NB - 95.4%

3rd - 3TH - 94.7%
