School photographs
On Monday, all the children will be having their professional school photographs taken by our photographer.  They will have individual photos and a picture with any siblings within the school. Please can you make sure that extra care is taken with the correct school uniform and hair styling - we don't want anyone to be upset with their Arbor profile picture! If your child has PE on Monday, please can you make sure that they have both sets of uniform in school. Thank you.

LAMDA Examinations

A group of children from KS1 and KS2 took LAMDA examinations in London at the end of the Summer Term.  We are very proud of their efforts because they were honing their skills in public speaking over the course of the year by attending our LAMDA after school club with Mrs Chandler and Ms Fossey. The children had to recite a poem from memory and also engage in a conversation on a variety of topics including how to play a game and their favourite book with the LAMDA examiner.  Despite their nerves, all of the children involved received at least a merit grade, with two gaining a distinction for their efforts. Over the past few weeks, all Key Stage 1 and 2 children have been learning poems for recital and next month children from across the school will be involved in the Kingston Speech and Drama Festival.  Congratulations to everyone involved.  It's been great to see your confidence grow!

Black History Month

October marks the celebration of Black History Month, a time dedicated to recognising and honouring the significant contributions and achievements of black individuals and communities throughout history. At King's Oak Primary School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment that celebrates the rich heritage and cultural diversity within our community.  The theme for this year is Reclaiming Narratives and we will be exploring this through cross-curricular links and through assemblies and PSHE lessons. We encourage parents and guardians to support our efforts by engaging in conversations at home about black history and culture. Consider exploring books, films, and other resources that highlight black voices and stories. Your involvement will enhance your child's learning and appreciation for diversity.

Boost your cycling confidence this autumn on Kingston's free, fun and family-friendly ride

Governors Newsletter

Attached to the email with the link to the school newsletter, you should this week have also received a newsletter from the governing board.  I hope that you find it informative and helpful in understanding the valuable role that this group of dedicated volunteers do to support our school.  If you have any questions for them, the contact details for the clerk to the board are contained in the document.

I hope that you all have a great weekend.
