Well Being Ambassadors

On Wednesday, a team of five pupils from Year 6 attended the primary school Mental Health Ambassadors Conference at Southborough High School. They represented the school brilliantly and engaged in a range of activities and took time to learn strategies to support others with their well-being. As part of the conference, they have written an action plan that they will implement over the academic year to support children across the school. They will be working hard to support the well-being of others - well done well-being team!
School Photographs
A reminder that on Monday all the children will be having their official school photographs taken. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform and is looking smart! If your child would normally wear their PE kit to school on a Monday, please ensure that they either wear top-half normal school uniform and bring PE kit to change into or the other way round.
PSA Events
Our fabulous PSA team have put together an overview of the academic year so that you can see what events are planned over the year. It kicks off next Friday with the Reception Welcome Event - if you have a child in Reception, please book your space with your class teacher. There are lots of other great events to look forward to including treat sales, a disco, Elfridges, raffles and an after school Summer Fair. Please support these events and if you would like to help out, please contact the PSA. They are also holding their AGM on Thursday 6th November at 9:00 - please come along if you want to find out more about the PSA or want to get involved in supporting the committee - any additional support would be very much appreciated.

School Health Service - Parent/Carer Advice clinics
The Your Healthcare School Health Service offer support with children’s health and wellbeing to children and families who attend state funded Kingston Schools or are home educated and live in Kingston. Parent advice clinics are for parents of primary school aged children. They run weekly during term-time on different days of the week with appointments available between 9:15 and 11:30 am. If you can’t make these times, please let us know and we’ll contact you to make alternative arrangements.
What sort of support/advice is available at a parent advice clinic?
Common issues we provide support and advice with bedwetting, constipation, soiling, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, behaviour, dental health, emotions and sleep. Appointments are on-line, by telephone or in person at our clinic in Surbiton. The aim of the appointment is to find out more about your child’s needs so we can advise you on what to do next. This might include referral to specialists, suggesting you see your GP, signposting to resources that can help you or a more detailed assessment of your child’s health needs by school health.
Can I get support with speech and language concerns?
For concerns regarding your child’s language development the children’s Speech and Language Therapy advice line is available on Wednesdays 10-12 and Thursdays 2-4pm. The contact number is 020 8339 8106 and a voicemail is available for call back.

ECO Refill Shop - King's Oak Refill Rescue

Children in Year 6 are busy preparing to launch an ECO Refill Shop at school later this term. Please can we ask you to complete this brief questionnaire to help them: https://forms.gle/dz9QNEPgqcNBE3YbA
The shop will provide our community with a way to reduce single use plastic and provide everyone with some great products including shampoo, body wash, hand soaps and washing up liquid. Customers will bring an empty 500ml bottle to the shop and it will be filled with your requested product. The team are currently planning for the first sale so please keep an eye out for their marketing materials and get ready to support them if you can.
Hope you all had a great week - enjoy the weekend, I look forward to seeing you on Monday with your children looking very smart for their photographs!
