Christmas Jumper Day - Thursday 11th December

This year, our Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day is taking place on Thursday 11th December.  We will be holding a festive non-uniform day to raise money for Save the Children.  Please do not go out and buy a Christmas jumper just for this event - you can be as creative and colourful as you like - stick some tinsel on your school uniform or just wear bright and festive colours.  All donations welcome - thank you.

Breakfast and After School Club

As you may now be aware, Zone All Sports and Care ceased trading today.
However, we are pleased to let you know that the school will be taking over both the Breakfast and After-School Clubs from next week until the end of term. Our intention is to continue providing this service until Easter 2026, after which we will review the provision before confirming arrangements for the remainder of the academic year.
We will also be sharing details in the coming weeks about the fun activities planned for the children each evening.
We are delighted that Liz will be remaining with us throughout this transition, which we hope will help ensure a smooth and familiar experience for the children.
Key Information

  • New booking system: Arbor- booking through clubs.
  • If you are unsure how to use the system, please come to the office—we are happy to help.
  • Prices will remain the same until the end of term.
  • We will provide a further update regarding arrangements for the Spring Term in the coming weeks.

We apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Is my child too ill for school?

Our attendance data has been taking a dip over the past couple of weeks - some of this seems to be linked to illness.  Please see the information below to check if your child needs to be kept off of school or not.

You can still send your child to school with:

  • A slight cough
  • Common cold symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat or headache

Keep them at home if they:

  • Have a temperature of 38C or more
  • Have any of the illnesses or symptoms listed below

They should be absent from school until...

  • Chickenpox: at least 5 days from the onset of the spots and until all blisters have crusted over
  • Diarrhoea and vomiting: at least 2 days (48 hours) after their last episode
  • Cold and flu-like symptoms (including mild symptoms of possible COVID): they no longer have a high temperature and feel well enough to attend
  • COVID: if your child has tested positive, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days after they test positive
  • German measles (rubella): 5 days after the rash first appeared
  • Impetigo: their sores have crusted and healed, or 48 hours after they started antibiotics
  • Measles: at least 4 days after the rash first appeared
  • Mumps: 5 days after the swelling started
  • Ringworm: they start treatment
  • Scabies: 24 hours after they’ve had their first treatment
  • Scarlet fever: 24 hours after they began taking antibiotics
  • Whooping cough: 48 hours after they started taking antibiotics, or 2 weeks from the start of symptoms if not treated with antibiotics

Send them to school, but please let us know about:

  • Cold sores
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Hand, foot and mouth
  • Head lice
  • Threadworms
  • Glandular fever
  • Tonsillitis
  • Slapped cheek

General advice
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to contact the school on the first day they are absent to let us know that your child won't be in and why.
If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.

PSA Discos

Huge thanks to our amazing PSA for the excellent discos that the children attended this afternoon.  They had a fantastic time and enjoyed the treats and dancing with their friends.  The children looked wonderful in their comfy clothes and participated brilliantly.  What a great way to end the week!

ECO Refill Shop - King's Oak Refill Rescue
A quick reminder that next Friday after school will be the next ECO Refill Shop run by Year 6.  The sale will take place under the canopy in the KS2 Playground - please remember to bring your empty bottles to be filled up and that the sales are card only.  Feedback from people who made purchases last time have been very positive so please don't miss out on this excellent opportunity to help save the planet and support Year 6 with their project.

Thank you - have a great weekend.
