Welcome Back!
Welcome back to the start of the Spring Term! The weather has certainly not felt very spring like this week - thank you for your support with safely navigating the entrances and exits to the school and avoiding the black ice! I hope that you all had a great break from school and had lots of fun family times. The children have come back with lots of enthusiasm and interesting stories from their festive holidays. Please note that our club programme starts next week - please check your Arbor account for bookings and timings.

Kingston SEND Early Intervention Cluster Project
King’s Oak is one of eight local schools taking part in this project, with access to funding for developing even better early intervention. The primary goal is to offer early support for pupils with SEN within mainstream schools. Ms Fossey and Ms Balendran (our SENCOs) have attended every month and November’s meeting was held here at King’s Oak, which I also attended.
King’s Oak have been successful in two funding requests so far: one related to Occupational Therapy (involving training the SENCOs and staff and auditing the environment) and one to the assessment of Speech and Language needs and designing interventions closely related to children’s needs (the WellComm package). We have submitted two bids for the January meeting - one related to supporting children’s social, emotional and mental health and one related to supporting literacy and maths.
Parents/carers responded to a survey at the beginning of the project and this will be followed up in the summer term. If you have any ideas about support for early intervention, over and above ordinarily available provision, or want to know more about the project, please contact Ms Fossey or Ms Balendran.
Newsletter Readership
Following on from the success of our first newsletter readership prize draw we had another chance for a prize in the last newsletter of last term. Sadly we only had 37 entries - I'm hoping that people still read the newsletter but were too busy wrapping presents or partying with friends to be able to enter the prize draw! The winners have been contacted already - please look out for further chances for prizes in future newsletter - keep up the good reading!
Have a fantastic weekend - see you next week.
