Bikeability

Well done to all the children in Years 5 and 6 who had signed up for the Bikeability Scheme that took place this week.  They all did a fantastic job with the training in the playground and then when they were ready for road cycling, did some great riding in the local area.  These are excellent skills for the children to have and as well as bike riding, the scheme supports with fitness, coordination, road safety skills and teamwork.  Special thanks to the Bikeability team for working so hard with the children and giving them such a fantastic opportunity.

Important - we need your help to protect children from measles

There has been an increase in measles in London recently and we have a small number of confirmed cases in young children in Kingston. This is of concern given the rising number of cases across London. The London outbreak has led to some children having to be hospitalised.

Measles spreads very easily between people who are not vaccinated. Measles can be prevented by vaccination. All parents and carers want what is best for their child – if your child has missed any of their doses or you’re unsure, get in touch with your GP surgery. It’s never too late to catch up.

See: NHS vaccinations and when to have them.

For more information about measles, see the nhs.uk website.

Tag Rugby Competition

This week a group of pupils from Year 5 represented King’s Oak at a borough tag rugby competition.  They showed great resilience and skills and worked really effectively together.  They did well in many matches and improved their skills and teamwork as the event progressed.  Well done to them all for their effort and enthusiasm.
