Farewell to Mrs Smith

Yesterday all the staff and children said a fond farewell to Mrs Smith who has now left the school. She has worked at King's Oak for over 20 years and supported many children and staff throughout her time at King's Oak so will be greatly missed. We had a very emotional assembly with lots of input from the children about how Mrs Smith had supported them so well. We wish her well for the future and are keen to hear that she might be coming back at some point as a reading volunteer in the school!

Caterlink Parent and Pupil Survey
Our school meals provider, Caterlink, are keen to get some evaluation from yourselves and the children to help with ideas on improving the service.
Please complete their survey from the link below - they state that it should take approximately nine minutes and recommend you competing the survey with your child. Hopefully we can get a good response rate and valuable input as to how our catering service can be further developed.
SEN Cluster Information
A group of children in Upper Key Stage 2 are taking part in a project to test and further develop a music-timed maths programme specifically designed for students who struggle with numeracy, Ultrarapid.io. This has been funded by the SEN Early Intervention Cluster, following a bid submitted by Ms Fossey.
The programme focusses on keeping core maths concepts straightforward to prevent learners from feeling overwhelmed. It blends music, movement, instant feedback, and gamified rewards to motivate students and encourage regular practice.
Founder, Felix Weaver, joined Ms Fossey and the children involved in their introductory session to Ultrarapid. He'll be back next week and will again work with Ms Fossey and the students involved for a half an hour session. Feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
It has been a very positive first week back after the half-term break - the children have been full of exciting tales of their half-term adventures, Halloween activities, costumes and fun! Hopefully the next six weeks will continue to go well - and our attendance data can start to rise as it did last half-term. Have a lovely weekend.
