NEU Strike Action
As you will have seen in the national press, the National Education Union (NEU) has called a series of teacher strikes for the coming months.  These are due to take place on;

Wednesday 1st February 2023
Thursday 2nd March 2023
Wednesday 15th March 2023
Thursday 16th March 2023

Strike action is very much a last resort when all other avenues for conflict resolution have been exhausted.  While I appreciate what a negative impact this will have on us all, I am fully supportive of our teaching team in their desire to work together to try and protect the teaching profession and our education system for our children and for future generations.  The NEU and other teaching unions are still willing to engage in talks with the government, so I very much hope that an agreement can be reached before we get to the scheduled strike dates.

Teaching staff are under no obligation to let me know if they intend to take strike action, but I am working with colleagues to find out what the potential impact on the school will be.  As soon as I have further information, I will share it with you.

Year 4 Football Festival
Last week, ten Year 4 girls had the amazing opportunity to attend the 'Nothing Stops Us' football festival for girls, which was run by Chelsea Ladies. We travelled to Goals in Tolworth where we were met by five other schools from the borough. We all got the chance to take part in different activities. Firstly, we practiced our dribbling techniques, then our passing and finally our shooting techniques - all while having lots of fun. At the end of the day, we then watched a video message from a Chelsea player who encouraged us that girls can play football too, and it is all about having fun. We were lucky enough to receive our own Chelsea scarf and football, to keep practicing the skills we learnt at home and with our friends.

PSA Meeting

We had a well attended and productive PSA meeting this morning.  Amongst other things we discussed upcoming events including pupil discos, another film night, a raffle and some future plans for the summer fair.  So many things to look forward to and hopefully raise funds for the school.   Contact the PSA if you want to get involved - psa.kopsch@gmail.com.

Curriculum Newsletters

Attached with the link to the newsletter this week you should also have received the curriculum newsletter for your child's class.  Please take some time to read and understand the learning that your child will be working on for the term ahead.  These documents are also on each year group page of the school website.  Hopefully you will find them useful in helping to support your child with the curriculum content for this term.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.

King's Oak Primary School
Year 3 took a trip down to Kingston Wagamama linked to their learning on healthy eating in science. The children had the opportunity to make fresh juices using a range of fruit and vegetables. After, they had a go at using chopsticks and trying unique Japanese inspired ingredients such as udon noodles, kimchi and bamboo. Then, the children used weighing scales to measure 20 grams of mange tout, sweetcorn and red pepper, which the chefs turned into an amazing dish in the kitchen, mixing it with noodles, chicken or tofu. It tasted delicious! Thank you to all the staff at wagamama for their lovely hospitality and catering for all our children with dietary requirements!
