Thanks for PSA Discos
A huge thank you to our remarkable Parent Staff Association team for putting on such wonderful discos for the children to enjoy this week.  The children did a fantastic job with their dancing and engagement in the fun and all seemed to be having a brilliant time - they certainly looked very hot and sweaty when the lights came on at the end!  The money from these events is being used to purchase a popcorn machine for further fundraising at future events.  If you ever need to contact the PSA, their email address is: psa.kopsch@gmail.com

Climate Resistant Schools Programme
Hopefully at some point this week you will have noticed one of the ten new planters that have been installed around the school over half-term.  Admittedly, some of the planting looks a little sparse, but I have been reassured that the plants will grow quickly and they will fill out.  During the rain this week you could see the watering and water storage in action.  They are a smart addition to our school site and as well as providing greenery, will be doing their bit to support the environment too.

NEU Planned Industrial Action - 02/03/23
As you are hopefully aware from previous communications and the national media, there is a potential National Education Union (NEU) strike planned for next Thursday (02/03/23).  There is still some hope that the government will engage in meaningful discussions with the union and that it can be called off.  We will know by Monday if it is going ahead.  I will send out a separate communication at the start of the week with information about the potential impact on the school - based on the previous industrial action it is probably prudent to have thought about child-care needs for this day just in case.

World Book Day
Due to the fact that World Book Day falls on a potential strike day this year, we have made the decision to have our King’s Oak Book Day on Friday 10th March. We will be taking part in fun activities across the school throughout the day with a particular focus on stories that reflect our wonderful children and school. Your child is welcome to come in dressed as their favourite character from a book they have read and will have an opportunity to share why this is their favourite character/ book with their classes. If your child doesn’t want to dress up, they can always dress a potato/ wooden spoon as their favourite character instead!
There will be assemblies throughout the day and prizes will be awarded for the most amazing costumes/ potatoes/spoons. Costumes can be home-made, shop bought or cobbled together with items borrowed from friends and family! See examples below.

We would also like to invite you to come into your child’s class at drop off (8.45 am) to enjoy reading with your child for 15 minutes.
We look forward to celebrating this special day with you all!

Parent Consultations
Thank you t o everyone who has already booked your parent consultation appointments for over the next two weeks.  If you have yet to do so, please use your Parent Mail account to book an appropriate slot.  Please contact your child’s class teacher directly if you are having any difficulty.

Chimps Are Family - Free Public Art Exhibition with Gillie and Marc

Kingston First, the town's Business Improvement District, are so thrilled to have partnered with internationally-renowned artists Gillie and Marc to bring ten amazing chimpanzee sculptures into the town centre. The ten sculptures are made to be interactive, and it's been fantastic to see families, children and adults alike monkeying around with these incredible pieces of art over the last couple of weeks; touching them, hugging them and climbing on them - whilst learning about these lovable but endangered creatures and the importance of conservation to protect them.

The exhibition forms a trail around the town centre and is a great and free way for families to explore Kingston.
