Harvest Donations
A huge thank you for the incredibly generous harvest donations that we collected this week - the response was phenomenal.  The food is being delivered today and I know that the charity will be incredibly grateful for the support from the King’s Oak community.

Parent consultations
Thank you to everyone who signed up and attended a parent consultation meeting this week - I hope that it was useful and informative.  It is very important that we have had the opportunity to meet with all parents so, if you have not yet met with your child’s class teacher, please connect with them as soon as possible to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.

Parent / Carer Survey
It is very important for the school and governors to get some feedback from parents and carers about how we are doing as a school.  This will enable us to focus on any areas that could be improved and ensure that our efforts for school development are focused in the right areas.  Please complete the short survey before the deadline of the 10th November.  Thank you in advance for your time in engaging with this feedback opportunity.

Please click here to take the survey!

New Caterlink menu
We have more children than ever taking up our school meal service which is great news! Attached with the newsletter today is the new menu that starts after half-term.  Caterlink have also produced a picture menu which you might find helpful when talking to your child about the food options.  We’d love even more children to benefit from the universal free school meals on offer this year so please take some time to look at the menus and see what meals they might like - you don’t need to sign up every day, you could encourage your child to just pick a few favourite meals to try!

Cycling proficiency trainers needed
The Sustainable Transport Team is seeking to recruit Cycle Instructors in the Sutton and Kingston areas to deliver Bikeability, the national cycle training programme for children. As one of our professional trained instructors you could earn up to £422 per week (Casual rate) to deliver our standard Bikeability courses involving 20 hours of contact with riders plus time for course administration and travel. Our Bikeability sessions are typically 10.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 15.00, plus travel time. All instructors must train on a 4-day Professional Course. So if you are a regular cyclist, have good road sense, are a good communicator and enjoy working outdoors, then this could be just the job for you. If appropriate you will receive further training in First Aid, Safeguarding and Cycle Maintenance. For an informal discussion about these positions please telephone Eric Chasseray, Sustainable Transport Officer on 020 8547 5826 or email eric.chasseray@kingston.gov.uk.

Autumn 1 is done!
We made it to the end of the first half-term - one sixth of the school year is under our belts.  It has been incredibly busy but rewarding with so much great learning and fun in school.  I was lucky enough to see Nursery this morning learning about rainbows and light refraction, saw awesome phonics work in Reception and shape reflection in Year 6 - there is always so much going on.  I hope that you all have a well deserved rest over the half-term break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 30th October for the start of Autumn 2 and the run up to Christmas!

This week in Pre-school we discussed the changes happening in nature, we also noticed the change in temperature and this week we needed to wrap up warm before we went outside.  We decided to make a sensory tub filled with items we can find outside in autumn. We had a pumpkin, horse chestnuts...

In English this week, we have continued to read Letters From The Lighthouse, and have started to consider what the characters of Olive and Cliff might write about in a postcard to their mum. We have explored what good looks like and have collaborated with a partner to box plan our writing...
