Year 6

English - Holes
This week in English, we have been looking at events from the perspective of the main character in Holes, Stanley Yelnats. We have explored the features of a diary entry and we have planned our writing through a box plan as well as a flow chart. We have used time adverbials, expanded noun phrases and rhetorical questions to make our writing interesting.
In topic, we have looked at the story of the Little Ships and learnt about the battle of Dunkirk. Over the coming weeks, we will draw inspiration from the war artist, Charles Cundall to plan and produce a watercolour painting.
Next week we will be looking at:
Science - electrical circuit symbols.
English - editing and uplevelling our writing.
Maths - place value.
PSHE - family and relationships.
Homework will be set next Friday (19th September).
Please come along to our welcome to Year 6, secondary transition and residential trip meeting on Tuesday 23rd September at 17:00.
