Nursery

Exploring Routines, Nests, and Feelings

The children have been doing a wonderful job settling into their nursery routine. To help support transitions throughout the day, we have been using singing as gentle prompts, letting the children know what action will follow. This has made our daily rhythm more fun and familiar for everyone.

This week, we discovered a pigeon’s nest in our garden! The children loved watching the mother pigeon leave the nest to find food and return to her babies. This observation linked beautifully to our story Owl Babies, where the baby owls experience similar feelings of worry when their mother is away. It sparked rich conversations about care, reassurance, and emotions, helping children connect real-life experiences with the story.

Through Owl Babies, the children have also been exploring different emotions when we feel happy, sad, or worried, and learning how to talk about their own feelings.

We are so proud of how the children are engaging with their new experiences, showing curiosity, and building their confidence day by day.
