Year 6

Coding Week

This week as part of National Coding Week, we have been looking at secret codes. We have linked our learning to our topic of World War 2 by looking at pig pen codes, Caesar ciphers, acrostic codes and nth letter ciphers. Over the coming weeks we will explore the role of Bletchley park’s code breakers in WW2. Applying our problem-solving skills, we were able to decipher a range of codes and have begun to write our own.

Next week we will be looking at:

  • Science - creating electrical circuits

  • English - starting to read Letters From The Lighthouse

  • Maths - rounding

  • Homework is due on Thursday. This is 1000 points on Mathletics, a reading comprehension (in homework books) and at least three comments in the reading record.

On Tuesday at 5.00 we look forward to welcoming you to the Year 6 meeting about secondary school transition, residential trip and general Year 6 information.
