Year 2

English and more...
We started our new book this week. It is called Poles Apart. The children have been learning to describe characters using expanded noun phrases. They have also used drama to act out the polar bear and penguin characters meeting for the first time. Next week, they will be learning how to use conjunctions (but, so, because, and, if) in their sentences.
In maths, the children have been looking at partitioning two-digit numbers in two or more ways. They have enjoyed challenging themselves.
In art, we looked at primary, secondary and tertiary colours on a colour wheel and recapped our tone, shade and hue lesson. This is in preparation for next week, where they will use what they have learnt to paint a portrait of themselves in the style of Picasso (blue period).
In topic, they have looked at comparing climates in other countries, and created inventions in computing.
On Friday afternoon, we celebrated the end of Mr Gumpy's Outing by having a year group tea party!
