This week in maths, we have been exploring the value of the number 1000. In groups, we thought about the different ways we could compose 1000, focusing on groups of 10. We then applied this learning to real life and discussed where we can find the value of 1000 in different situations. Some examples we thought of were:

• 1 kilogram = 1000 grams

• 1 metre = 1000 millimetres

• 1 litre = 1000 millilitres

Next week, we will be focusing on composition in more depth, specifically looking at how we can apply it to our addition strategies.
