Nursery’s Cultural Exploration: Discovering India

This week, our Nursery children have been busy exploring the wonderful sights, smells, and colours of India!

We have been learning all about the Indian market and the many treasures it holds. The children discovered a variety of spices such as cardamom, turmeric, and saffron, and herbs like mint and coriander. Everyone enjoyed using their senses to sniff, touch, and explore these exciting new smells and textures!

We also learnt how terracotta is made from clay, and explored vermilion and charcoal, talking about what they are used for.

Our exploration continued as we looked at traditional Indian clothing, such as the beautiful sari and shiny bangles. The children had lots of fun dressing up in colourful outfits and even wearing bindis. They looked wonderful!

To finish our week, we discovered some of India’s most famous flowers, including the jasmine and the lotus, and learnt why they are so special.

It’s been a week full of colour, creativity, and curiosity!
