Nursery rhymes

This week we have been focusing on learning new words. Nursery rhymes are a great way to promote language and the children have really been engaged singing the words and learning the actions to a variety of songs. If you wish to carry on the learning at home, some of the songs we have been singing are Old Macdonald Had a Farm, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer. We have also started to encourage the children to do early counting through these songs.

The children have also been playing colour-matching games together and learning red, blue, yellow and green. When you are out and about this weekend, why not see what colours you can find in the environment. We have also been promoting independence by learning to put on our coats before going outside and washing hands before our snack time.

Trip reminder – If you would like your child to attend the trip to the Picnic in Kingston, please pay via Arbor as soon as possible. Thank you (if you have any questions please come and see one of the teachers.)

Next week to carry on learning about colours, we will be reading Wow Said the Owl. This is a story of a little owl who stayed awake all day long and discovered a world full of colours.
