This week in maths, Year 4 have been learning formal multiplication, focusing on setting out calculations clearly and accurately. The children have worked hard and shown great progress in using this method with increasing confidence.

Next week, we will be trying to continue mastering this skill and apply it to two-digit by two-digit multiplication and beginning to use divisibility rules to help us solve problems more efficiently.

A secure knowledge of times tables is very important and really supports children with this learning. Regular practice at home, such as quick recall, games, or online tools, makes a big difference and helps to build confidence in class.
