Year 6

English

This week in English we have planned and begun to write a short descriptive narrative in the style of a David Attenborough documentary. We have used a range of figurative devices, including personification, similes and metaphors to show not tell. We have challenged ourselves to use synonyms of common verbs, including swim and move to bring our underwater scene to life. To make our writing interesting, we have used a variety of sentence types, including complex sentences, short sentences, repetition and semi-colon sentences to create mood and atmosphere.

Next week we will be:

  • Exploring the role of barcodes and QR codes in computing,

  • Looking at the famous scientist, Charles Darwin in science,

  • Continuing measures in maths,

  • Peer assessing our artwork in art.
