Farm Visit
This week we had a visit from the local farm. We saw a sheep, guinea pigs, a goat, a tortoise and baby chicks. The children were very good at following the instructions about how to care for the animals and walked around the enclosures and gently touched the animals. I think a favourite for the children was the snake. Afterwards, we read a story about a farm and learnt about other animals we may see on the farm. We also sang Old Mac Donald Had A Farm and learnt about the sounds of each animal.
Also this week, the children took part in a sensory activity of making difference coloured rice, by placing rice into a food bag, adding food colouring and shaking the bag. Afterward, we played with the rice, developing our gross motor skills by filling up containers and pouring it into funnels.
We have also been noticing changes to our cress seeds, which have changed colour and are now getting very tall. The children enjoyed watering them each day.
Next week we will be reading, Bath Time For Little Rabbit.
Just a reminder that as the warm weather approaches, please ensure your children are wearing sun cream and have a sun hat in school.
