A Wonderful Week at Nursery
We have had a very busy and exciting week in Nursery with lots of learning and exploring.
This week we had a special visit from Manor Farm. The children were very excited to see both large and small animals. They enjoyed getting close to the animals and were very brave when touching them, including the snake, sheep, pony, bunny and chicks. There was lots of curiosity and laughter throughout the visit.
Some children were a little surprised that there was no elephant or giraffe. It seems they were hoping for a full safari experience. We may need a much bigger nursery next time to fit those in.
We have also been reading the story Handa’s Surprise. The children really enjoyed exploring and tasting different fruits such as pineapple, mango, passion fruit, guava and avocado. They talked about what the fruits tasted like and learnt new words such as edible and creamy.
We also looked at the shapes of the fruits and explored the seeds inside them. This helped the children to observe carefully and talk about what they could see.
As part of the story, we discussed the animals that appear in the book, including the ostrich, giraffe and antelope. The children enjoyed recognising and naming these animals.
It has been a lovely week full of new experiences and enthusiasm for learning.
