Year 4

From Athens to Abbey Road!
This week in Year 4, we made some really interesting links between our learning and the wider world. In history, we compared politics in Ancient Greece with modern Britain, which led to thoughtful discussions about fairness, leadership, and what children believe is right and wrong. The class showed great maturity when sharing and listening to different opinions.
In music, we explored the meaning behind the song Blackbird by The Beatles. We discussed how the song connects to American politics and the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, helping children understand how music can reflect important events and messages from history.
We also continued with our swimming lessons, and the children are growing in confidence each week. They are gaining valuable experience in the pool and should be very proud of the progress they are making.
Next week, we will continue our learning about Ancient Greece, with a particular focus on Greek mythology and the fascinating stories and characters linked to this period of history.
