Nursery

We Are All Different!

This week in nursery, we started reading the story We All Go Travelling By. The children thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrases and talking about the different ways people travel. We had lots of lovely discussions about how the children come to school each day, including by bus, car, scooter, bicycle, and walking. The children were excited to share their own experiences and compare journeys with their friends.

We also linked our learning about colours to the story by looking at the different coloured vehicles we could spot. The children practised Makaton signs for the colours red, pink, white, and green while talking about the pictures in the book and during our group activities. They enjoyed using the signs alongside songs and games throughout the week.

We have also been learning about the square shape. The children were able to identify and find square shapes from our environment. They enjoyed exploring different objects and recognising squares in everyday items around them.

As part of our topic about ourselves, we have been learning that we are all different and unique. We talked about how people may have blonde hair, dark hair, curly hair, or straight hair, and how some people are tall while others are shorter. The children enjoyed noticing similarities and differences between themselves and their friends, helping to promote kindness, respect, and appreciation for one another.

It has been a wonderful week full of conversations and learning together!
