Reception

Zog arrived!
This week in Reception, we have been enjoying the story of Zog by Julia Donaldson. The children have loved joining in with the adventures of the eager dragon and his friends. As part of our literacy learning, we explored new vocabulary linked to the story, including words such as dragon and fearsome! The children enjoyed discussing what these words mean and using them in their own sentences and conversations.
We also became dragon designers this week! The children used their imagination and creativity to create their own unique dragons. They carefully thought about their dragon’s colours, features and if they are scary or friendly!
In maths, we have been focusing on comparing numbers and quantities within 10. The children have been practising identifying which groups have more, fewer, or the same amount. We have used practical resources, counting activities, games, and number challenges to help develop confidence and understanding. The children have worked very hard and are becoming increasingly confident when explaining their mathematical thinking.
As always, thank you for your continued support at home.
A gentle reminder for parents and carers to please check all information regarding our upcoming school trip on the 9th of June. If you have not yet given permission, please do so as soon as possible. We are very excited for this special day and look forward to sharing the experience with the children.
Have a lovely weekend, from the Reception team.
