Reception

Flags and warm weather!

This week in Reception we have been very busy preparing for our class assembly. The children have worked so hard practising their lines and speaking clearly and confidently. We are very proud of how enthusiastic they have been while learning and rehearsing together. As part of our assembly preparations, the children also enjoyed making flags from their home countries. This gave us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the different cultures and backgrounds within our class and talk about what makes us all unique and special. This picture is a map of the continents!

In maths, we have been using our rekenreks to help us solve addition problems. The children have been learning how to represent numbers visually and use the beads to count accurately. We explored simple number sentences such as 5 and 1 more makes 6, helping the children to build confidence with early addition skills and number bonds. The children enjoyed using the practical resources and were able to explain their thinking really well.

We are so proud of all the children for their hard work, teamwork and growing confidence this week. Thank you for your continued support at home.

Have a wonderful half-term!
