In science this week, Year 3 explored light and shadows. We learnt that shadows are formed when an object blocks light. To investigate this, we designed and made our own shadow puppets and used a light source to create shadows. We observed how the shadow changed when we moved the puppet closer to or further away from the light. We discovered that shadows become larger when an object is closer to the light source and smaller when it is further away. We had great fun experimenting with our puppets while developing our understanding of how light travels and creates shadows.
