Year 5

Designers of the Lost Tomb

This week, Year 5 became expert tomb designers as part of our Ancient Egypt topic. Using everything we have learnt about Egyptian beliefs surrounding the afterlife, the children created their own imaginative Egyptian-themed tombs filled with detailed and creative features. Their designs included hidden traps to protect treasures, colourful wall paintings, mysterious curses, detailed maps of the tombs and carefully organised numbered keys. Many children also added lift-the-flap sections to reveal secret chambers and explain what made their tomb unique and special. The project gave pupils a wonderful opportunity to showcase both their historical knowledge and creativity and we were incredibly impressed by the effort, detail and enthusiasm shown throughout the week. We can't wait for our trip on Tuesday to Kingston Grammar to continue our learning about Ancient Egypt.
