Year 5

Human development

In science this week, Year 5 have been studying humans and other animals, focusing on the different stages of human development from infancy to adulthood. As part of their learning, the children explored how scientists gather information through surveys and questionnaires. They discussed the importance of asking clear, unbiased questions and worked collaboratively to develop their own survey questions. The class considered how the wording of a question can affect the responses received and how scientists use this information to draw conclusions. The children are looking forward to putting their new skills into practice by interviewing family members at home. We expect some interesting conversations over the weekend as they test out their carefully crafted questions and collect real-life data to bring back and discuss in class next week.
