Reception

Outdoor learning!

This week we have had a very busy time doing all of our learning and enjoying the slightly cooler weather!

We have been looking at our everyday words in phonics and taking advantage of the lovely weather outside to practise and learn. Words like "who, when, this, that, come, some and was" are used in lots of stories and our own writing. The children have become fantastic at writing dictated sentences. This is where we speak a sentence slowly, and they segment the sounds, blend the sounds and write the word! They really enjoy the challenge. We have also looked at learning some compound words such as "laptop and suntan." They were superb at thinking of their own words too!

In maths, we have been looking at number bonds and number sentences to 10. We have been looking for patterns in the number bonds such as 1 + 9 = 10 what does 9 +1 make? They have been really enthused searching out which number bonds match or look similar.

Next week looks like it will be hotter again, keep sending in hats, sunscreen and water and we will, if we need to make sure shade and activities reflect the heat and sun.

Thanks for your support and see you next week!
