Year 5

Roads End

This week, Year 5 were captivated by the beautifully animated short film Road's End by Bri Meyer, which will be the inspiration for our next exciting writing project. Building on the suspense techniques we have developed through Secrets of a Sun King, the children explored how atmosphere, tension and mystery can grip an audience from the very first moment. They analysed the film's haunting setting, eerie soundscape and intriguing characters, discussing how small details can create big emotions. Over the coming days, pupils will use these ideas to retell the terrifying narrative of Roads End, carefully crafting suspense through powerful vocabulary, varied sentence structures and vivid description. We can't wait to see their confidence as writers continue to grow while they keep readers on the edge of their seats!
