Pirates!
Our story of the week has been Pirates Love Underpants, which the children absolutely loved. We enjoyed listening to the story, talking about the characters and joining in with the funny rhymes. The children have taken part in a range of pirate-themed activities, including creating treasure maps, designing their own pirate flags and using their imagination in our role-play area. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm shine throughout the week.
In phonics, we have been focusing on polysyllabic words. The children have been practising listening carefully for the different syllables in longer words and blending them confidently when reading. They have worked incredibly hard and are becoming much more confident at tackling longer words independently. Please continue to encourage your child to spot and read longer words when sharing books at home.
In maths, we have been revisiting our number bonds to 5. Through games, practical activities and problem-solving challenges, the children have been exploring the different ways to make 5 and developing their confidence in recalling these number facts quickly.
As always, we are so proud of how well the children have worked this week. They have shown kindness, resilience and a real enthusiasm for learning.
Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you for your continued support during this very warm weather. We really appreciate your help in ensuring that children arrive at school with the correct equipment, including sun hats, water bottles and suitable clothing for the heat. Your support helps us to keep everyone safe, comfortable and ready to enjoy their learning.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another exciting week of learning together!
