This week, we have been enjoying reading Goat Goes to Playgroup. While reading the story, this started a conversation about the children’s own experiences of coming to Pre School. 

They talked about activities such as painting, climbing and snack time, making connections between Goat's experiences at playgroup and what they enjoy doing at school. It was lovely to hear the children sharing their experiences and recognising familiar routines and activities within the story. 

We also introduced natural resources to our play dough, including twigs and leaves. The children enjoyed exploring the different textures. We talked about the colours of the leaves and listened carefully to the sounds the leaves made as we held them in our hands. The children described the leaves as sounding “crunchy.” We went on to work together to make people with our resources, using twigs for arms and legs and our hair was made out of leaves. Lastly, adding eyes, nose and a mouth.
