Reception

The Little Red Hen

This week in Reception, we have been enjoying the story The Little Red Hen.

Alongside the story, we have been developing our vocabulary through discussion, songs and activities. We have explored words linked to the story, including harvest, and have talked about what this word means and how it connects to the events in the story. We have enjoyed singing songs and joining in with discussions to help us understand and remember our new vocabulary.

We have also started looking at subitising in our maths learning. We have been using the Numberblocks 2 and 3 to look at ways to see the numbers without counting. We have been learning to recognise numbers 0–3, match numbers to quantities, and compare groups of objects to see which has more or fewer.

Thank you to those parents and carers who have signed up for our phonics workshop on Wednesday 14th October at 9am. We hope you can join us and look forward to welcoming you to the workshop.  If you haven't had a chance to sign up yet, here is the link to do so https://forms.gle/9MBU4cjYjavehJBN8

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception team.
