Year 4

How do animals hear sounds?

Year 4 this week continued to investigate their science topic of sound. We first recapped how we hear sound and how sound waves send messages to our brain in order to hear. We looked at how different animals hear sounds and after a discussion came to the conclusion that animals need ears in order to send messages to their brains.  We noticed that different animals have different ear shapes and that some can prick up their ears in order to hear sound clearer. Some can even move their ears in order to hear sounds better. This helps animals survive in the wild when they are at threat or in danger, or to communicate with one another.
