Year 6

English
This week in English we have written job descriptions for a lighthouse keeper. We have used the following subheadings to organise our writing: location, about the employer, main duties, reporting to, main responsibilities, requirements and personal qualities. Through paired writing, we have ensured that our writing is formal as well as including persuasive techniques such as a friendly and inviting tone, calls to action and positive adjectives.
It is less than two weeks till our trip to the theatre. This is an exciting opportunity for the children and we have managed to acquire free tickets for ‘Cinderella’. Please make sure permission has been given on Arbor. Please also complete the separate form to show whether your child will be being picked up from school or the theatre. As we are returning to school later, no children are able to walk home on their own.
Next week we will be:
-
Continuing our Christmas rehearsals,
-
Exploring time zones in geography,
-
Researching the importance of Yom Kippur for Jewish people,
-
Writing an independent job description for a pilot.
