Year 5

Holly Lodge
Last week, both classes in Year 5 had the opportunity to go to Holly Lodge. We were going to investigate some of the creatures we had been learning about in our science lessons when we looked at life cycles. Even though it was very hot, we had a lot of fun and learned about the diverse creatures which can be found in the English countryside.
We completed three different activities; pond-dipping - where we used a net to capture some creatures and identify them before returning them to their habitats. We turned over rocks and logs to discover which types of creatures lived in that particular habitat and then we learned about the different places animals could live, for example a fox’s den - and tried to build these using natural resources.
