Year 5 have made an exciting start to their new English text, Curiosity: The Story of a Mars Rover. This inspiring book, written from the perspective of the rover itself, gives pupils a fascinating insight into Curiosity’s mission on Mars and the many challenges it has faced. The story will form the foundation of both our English and guided reading lessons this half term, as pupils explore the text in depth and build their understanding of life beyond Earth. Linking brilliantly with our previous science unit on Earth and Space, pupils will now use the knowledge they gained about planets, orbits and the solar system to help them write their own detailed information text all about the rover, its journey and what it hopes to discover. The children are already showing great enthusiasm and curiosity, and we are excited to see their interest in space continue to grow through this engaging and inspiring topic.
