Year 5

Hampton Court Palace
This week, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting trip to Hampton Court Palace, bringing our Tudor topic to life in the best possible way. We began with a guided tour of King Henry VIII’s court, where we discovered what daily life was like inside the palace and learnt about the many important jobs held by Tudors—from cooks and courtiers to musicians and royal advisors—and how society was carefully structured. Pupils were fascinated by the grand halls, rich tapestries, and stories of palace life. We then explored the famous Tudor kitchens on a self-guided tour, spotting where huge feasts were prepared, before heading into the beautiful gardens to see how the outdoor spaces were used for relaxation and royal display. The visit has given everyone plenty of inspiration for our classroom learning, and we look forward to building on this knowledge in the coming weeks. A huge thank-you to our parent helpers for supporting the trip!
