This week, Year 5 have been bringing our class text, Secrets of a Sun King, to life through drama! The children explored a hypothetical conversation between Lil’s parents when her father discovers that her mother has agreed to let Lil travel to Egypt. Using body language, facial expressions and tone of voice, the class worked hard to show the emotions and tensions between the characters. It was wonderful to see the children thinking carefully about how feelings can be communicated without words, as well as through dialogue itself. These dramatic activities have helped deepen the children’s understanding of the characters and will support them in writing powerful and effective dialogue when we return after half term. We are very proud of the creativity, enthusiasm and thoughtful performances shown by the whole class!
