Year 5

Holly Lodge
Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Holly Lodge as part of their learning about animals and their habitats. Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of exciting, hands-on activities that helped them explore how different animals live and survive in their environments. They investigated habitats by log rolling, carefully searching beneath logs for invertebrates and discussing the conditions they need to thrive. During pond dipping, the children discovered a variety of aquatic creatures and learnt about the habitats found in and around ponds. They also worked collaboratively to build bird nests using natural materials, gaining an understanding of how birds create safe homes for their young. The children were enthusiastic, curious and respectful throughout the visit, making the most of this wonderful outdoor learning opportunity. We are already looking forward to our next trip on the 16th of June to Kingston Grammar.
