Year 5

Computing

In computing, we have been learning about computer systems and networks, with a particular focus on search engines and how to search effectively online. Building on the skills developed in previous lessons, the children have been learning how to refine their searches to find relevant and reliable information. We have also explored the TASK acronym to help us evaluate the information we discover and consider how useful and trustworthy it is. To put our learning into practice, the children completed a knowledge quest linked to our history topic on the Tudors. They used their search skills to investigate specific information about Tudor houses, developing their ability to locate, select and evaluate information independently. In our next computing lesson, the children will bring together everything they have learnt by creating an informative poster to present their findings. This will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase their research skills, demonstrate their understanding of effective online searching in a clear and engaging way.
