Year 1
Learning about capacity in maths.
In our maths lessons this week, Year 1 have been learning about capacity. To start us off in this important topic, we have compared different containers to see how much water they will hold. We have then moved on to using the correct vocabulary for describing capacity, such empty, full and half full. In a somewhat related development, we have also been finding out this week about the damage that plastic waste does to our oceans. In our art lessons from next week, we are hoping to build sculptures to highlight this major problem. We would be most grateful if the children could help us by bringing any discarded plastic materials into school to help us in this.
Many thanks in advance from the Year 1 team!
