Year 2

DT, maths and Kingston Singing Festival at the Rose
The children have had another busy week.
In DT, they planned, prepped and cooked a range of vegetables for their healthy snacks. Some of the vegetables they used were peppers (of all colours), sweet potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes. They enjoyed peeling, cutting and skewering their choices of vegetables onto their wooden skewers. After about 40 minutes, they were cooked and the children ate them in the classroom before lunch. Some wanted to save theirs for a member of their family and took them home.
We spent a lot of time making sure our singing voices were up to scratch, and that we had learnt all the lyrics to the 5 songs we had to learn for the singing festival. Some of you may have seen the children perform 'A Million Dreams' in 2AC's class assembly last week, so you know just how fabulous the children sound.
The children were amazing yesterday! We couldn't be more proud. Even those children that were anxious about performing to a crowd gave their best!
This week in maths, we were exploring 2D shape with lollipop sticks. The children enjoyed the challenge of seeing how many hexagons, triangles, and octagons they could make with 18 sticks.
Thank you to those of you who provided fruit and veg over the last week, and to those of you who helped us on the trip yesterday. We couldn't do it without you and I know the children really enjoy your support.
Next week, we will be writing a witness statement in English and continuing with our division and multiplication in maths. We are looking at Kingston's role in aviation in history, and in PE we will be practising for Sports Day alongside practising our country dances for the Country Dance Festival at King's Meadow on 9.7.25.
Please don't forget Yr 2 Sports Day is Wed 25th June at 9am
