Year 2

Trip and more...

Year 2 had a fantastic day at the Science Museum on Thursday.

We spent time in the Flight gallery, Making the Modern World exhibit and the slightly smaller Space exhibit. The space exhibit is under refurbishment, so you may want to consider taking your child again to see it in its full glory.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the bus and tube journeys into South Kensington. Lunch was definitely a highlight, as was the making of the modern world gallery. The children were fascinated to see all the different historical objects, and loved trying to guess what they were used for.

In DT this week, Year 2 enjoyed practising making card and paper stronger in preparation for building their three little pigs' houses.  They used layers of paper and glue to make the paper stronger, created flanges on a cylinder, made corrugation with a piece of paper, created a slot join, and an 'L-brace'.

Year 2, had their first mental health workshop with Achieving for Children. They spoke about recognising feelings and how the body might appear and what feelings come with which emotion.

Our thanks to all the parents who helped on the trip, we cannot do the trips without you. We hope the stairs did not wear you out too much!!
