Year 2
Our first week of 2026
We started a new book this week, some of you may know it, it is Paddington by Michael Bond. Some of the children have seen the film. We discussed how books and films can differ. The children enjoyed acting out the first few scenes from the book and especially enjoyed the taxi scene where Paddington is covered in jam and cream and gets it on the taxi driver's coat.
In maths, the children have continued to practise and use the 5x table to help solve problems.
In science, this week, we have concentrated on two new scientists; John McIntosh and John McAdam. We conducted an experiment to see how wax crayon layered on to material helps make something waterproof.
Next week, we will be looking at hot and cold areas of the world in geography and linking this to our work on Paddington. Throwing and catching in PE and habitats in science.
Reading morning: Wednesday 14th Jan 8:45-9am
